It’s that time of year when couple start to get engaged. Did you know 40% of couples get engaged between the end of November and Valentine’s Day!

There are many wedding shows coming up in the new year and it is a great way for you to take a look at what is available and to meet some of your potential vendors.

BUT, many attendees of wedding shows can feel overwhelmed as there is so much information and so many vendors to choose from. But here at Perfect Planners, we have some great tips to make it less overwhelming and to make it more enjoyable.

  1. Make a wedding email address such as danandkristenwedding@gmail.com this makes sure that all your emails regarding the wedding are in one place. AND when your wedding is over, your personal email address will not be flooded with marketing emails about a service that you no longer require ;)

  2. Make labels with your information. With all the giveaway to win free things, your hand will get very tired writing all these details!

Make sure the label has your

    1. Name

    2. Email address

    3. Wedding Date or estimate e.g. Spring 2021

    4. Wedding Venue

    5. Number of Guests

  3. Take photo’s of the booths you really liked including their company name, you can look them up if you can’t remember them, because you’ll definitely remember the booth.

  4. Bring a pen!

  5. Wear comfortable shoes, it’s a lot of walking!

  6. Eat a light meal before you go, it takes a lot of energy walking around and carrying all the brochures

  7. Have 2 bags of brochures, one for the vendors you really liked and want to research more and one for your mom/maid of honour/bridesmaid to carry with all the others :)

  8. Don’t get sucked in by the “if you book today I’ll give you 20% off” that just screams run……… If they are a good vendor they will honour the show special for a week or two after the show or longer.

  9. Ask if the vendor is available on your wedding date, if not there is no point talking to them.

  10. Follow up with the vendors you liked quickly. If you liked them, so did other couples :)

When you are home, grab a glass of wine/beer/vodka and take a look through all the information your collected. Go through the first bag of the ones you liked and checkout their reviews on social media, weddingwire, eventsource to make sure they are reputable. Then start contacting them at your leisure.

Also, be prepared for the inbox overload of your wedding email address. You will be thanking us for suggestions!

Happy Planning!
